Vince McMahon Addresses Shane Leaving WWE & More

– Here is a rundown of what was spoken about during today’s conference call with World Wrestling Entertainment.

Vince McMahon noted that he believes that the company had a fairly good quarter. He says one of the big barometers he uses is live event attendance which the average is up approximately 9 percent. He added television ratings were up roughly 23 percent for the quarter.

Vince also addressed that Linda McMahon has stepped down as CEO. He has assumed the role, and noted that Linda still sits on the WWE board of directors.

Vince acknowledged that his son Shane McMahon is leaving the company “to pursue other interests in the marketplace.”

WWE pay-per-view buys were down roughly 10%. However they were up roughly 9% overseas. It was noted the company does not charge as much for overseas pay-per-views.

Average live event attendance was up nine percent compared to last quarter.

Television revenue increased by 16% and earned an additional $3.9 million due to higher fees from global television and the addition of WWE superstars.

Magazine publishing decreased by 28%.

WWE Studios earned $3.0 million in revenue compared to $5.6 in the same quarter last year. “12 Rounds” generated $12.2 million in gross domestic revenue. “The Marine 2″ is scheduled to be released in December 2009.

WWE’s current deal with the National Guard runs through 2010.

It was also noted that WWE is starting to put plans in place to launch a “WWE Network” in which they will use their existing library of footage. There was no indication of when it would launch as it is in the “preliminary talking stages”.
