Loading ...I recently got a chance to interview possibly one of the funniest wrestlers of all-time, current Ring Of Honor star Colt Cabana. In this exclusive interview, Colt talks about how he first had interest in the wrestling business, his time in WWE, rumors of him going to TNA, and so much more!
Here are some highlights from the interview:
What was your inspiration to become a professional wrestler?
When I was younger, my dad used to walk around the house in his underwear. At the time I thought, wow, he’s so cool, he looks just like a pro wrestler. Years later, I discovered that it was just creepy. It was too late though, it was decided…. I wanted to be like my dad… A pro wrestler.
Growing up, did you have any idols in the business?
My dad. I once saw him beat the shit out of a cab driver over a debate on whether the Cubs were gonna go to the world series or not. I had already thought he was a pro wrestler from the underwear incident, so from there he had become my favorite.
If you could go back in time to face any wrestler, who would it be and why?
I’d say Abraham Lincoln. He was known as a wrestler. I think it’d be a great match. Winner of the match gets credit for freeing the slaves!
How did you feel when you were offered a contract from the WWE?
Happy… Got a Boner, no joke.
How was your time in the WWE? Do you miss being there at all?
Well. The matches I had with HHH weren’t what I thought they were gonna be. We had decent chemistry, but he wouldn’t listen to me out there. I wouldn’t change a thing when it came to the Goldman/Cena fued though.
Do you have any funny backstage stories from your time in WWE?
Yes. They brought me up and then told me I was going to be a big
star. 6 job matches I got fired. Hahahaahhahahahhahahahahahahhahahahhahahhahahahhahhahahahhaahahahhaahhaha… hillarious
times!
If you could do your WWE career all over again, would you? If yes, would you change anything?
I wouldn’t of lost to Umaga. I woulda nipped up after the samoan spike, gave him Dradel Driver and done a dx chop to him and yelled “SHMUCK IT”!
Was it like returning to Ring Of Honor after your time in the WWE?
ROH is the best man. What a great company w/ great people and fans. I’ve been having a blast so far. www.rohwrestling.com
Everyone has there take on Hulk Hogan joining TNA. So I want to know
how you feel about it?
I’m kind of upset. I spoke to Terry (Hulk to you guys) and he gave me his word he’d sign with ROH. So I felt doublecrossed when I saw him show up w/ TNA. I’ve talked to him since and he said Horace Hogan will hopefully come in instead. The thing is, I’ll take Horace over Hulk anyday. So its turned out great for ROH.
When you first started wrestling, did you ever think you would be where you are today?
Did I imagine being 29 and Broke?! Sure did.
