– The Connecticut Democratic party has filed a formal complaint against World Wrestling Entertainment and Linda McMahon today. The party is alleging illegal activity when WWE executives removed YouTube videos that cast McMahon in a negative light. The formal complain was filed after the controversy two weeks ago in which Democrats sent emails to newspapers and potential voters with links to videos of WWE content that were in poor taste over the years. The party was attempting to discredit McMahon’s Senate campaign by suggesting she approved of distasteful content on WWE TV as the CEO.
Some of the videos included the infamous scene of Triple H simulating sex acts on “the corpse” of Katie Vick. WWE immediately removed the videos citing they were protecting their content from piracy.
The formal complaint notes there are still 500,000 WWE videos online that havent’ been taken down. The party alleges that Linda McMahon’s campaign violated federal law when her former company came to her aid.
Ed Patru, a spokesman for Linda said in a statement that the Democratic party was afraid of McMahon’s Senate bid in 2010. Patru added that WWE and McMahon’s campaign believed they have complied with all formal political rules and regulations established by the government.
“This latest attack from Chris Dodd speaks volumes about just how worried he is about Linda’s campaign,” Patru said. “It’s troubling that Chris Dodd’s political apparatus seems more concerned with watching wrestling videos on the Internet than restoring trust in government.”
