Shawn’s Thoughts: Raw- The Talent Elevation Train

– Last night was an odd night for World Wrestling Entertainment. Instead of getting the “same old same old”, we got something a little fresher. This time, it seems WWE may of gotten the hint that they really needed to step up their game when it comes to elevating their new talent. A typical Raw broadcast will normally focus on the “Main Players” (Orton,Cena,HBK,HHH), but last night WWE focused more on the younger talent which was a pleasant surprise to the viewers. Here is the rundown.

The Miz & Evan Bourne

– Coming off a big win against John Morrison at Bragging Rights, The Miz faced off against Evan Bourne. While one may think that The Miz losing via count out to Bourne, it is more logical for him to lose the match to set up a program between the two. Both men have had some great matches, I for one am looking forward to see what these two pull off.

Kofi Kingston & Randy Orton

– This move surprised me as WWE decided to put Kofi Johnson….Kingston in a program with the former WWE Champion Randy Orton. This will give Raw a fresher appeal to the viewers as it isn’t the same program over and over. Man was that NASCAR paint job for Orton sweet or what? WWE hit the nail on the head big time with giving Johnson a high profile program. With him working with Orton, this will most definitely help launch Kingston into orbit.

Sheamus Now On Raw

– Another big move World Wrestling Entertainment made last night was moving Sheamus to Raw. While I am glad they did this, as he is a great talent, I have two problems with this.

1. There really wasn’t any storyline reason of why he was moved over from ECW other than he was a “free agent”. Since when are stars free agents?

2. So Sheamus gets on the mic and says that he wants to make an impact. By beating Jamie Noble? Squash match for sure. I hope that WWE doesn’t drop the ball on this one with booking him this way continually. Only a few weeks ago, Sheamus had great matches with Goldust, and he was also the World Heavyweight Champion at Florida Championship Wrestling, so we all know he is capable of having an entertaining match.

Cody Rhodes & Ted Dibiase

– Over the past few months, World Wrestling Entertainment has really elevated the team of Rhodes & Dibiase, but over the last few weeks, they have pretty much leveled out. The only reason why this would happen theoretically is because of the potential Dibiase face turn. We should see this happen probably next month to help coincide with the release of “The Marine 2″ on DVD in which Dibiase is the main star.

John Cena Gives A Serious Promo!

– Wow, Cena actually delivered a damn good promo last night while in the ring with Ted Dibiase and Cody Rhodes. It was short and to the point. We usually will get a “goofy humor” Cena, but he kept him serious for most of the promo.

DX vs. John Cena

– Given how DX has been on such a roll for the last few weeks, WWE threw another curve ball at us by pitting Shawn Michaels and Triple H and John Cena in a Triple Threat match for the WWE Championship at Survivor Series. I will find it highly interesting to see who will win this match next month, especially when Cena will begin filming his new movie starting in December.

Kyle Busch & Joey Lagano

– Overall for celebrities who don’t speak in front of a live crowd all that much they did pretty good. I got a good chuckle when Busch called Kofi Kingston Kofi Johnson. I would have to take a guess that Busch got some advice from Chris Jericho on how to put on the heel heat, as I seen hints of Jericho in his promo. Overall they were entertaining to watch for the opening of Raw.
