Cliff in Control: Degenerating DX

The team of Triple H and Shawn Michaels has once again returned to take the Raw scene by storm. They hardly ever wrestle on free TV, but that hasn’t stopped them from making just about the entire two hours all about them somehow. After they finished picking apart Legacy, they set their sights on the hottest team going in WWE right now, JeriShow. DX have never been tag champions before, and they appear poised to change that little fact. As much of a fan as I am of Hunter and Shawn, though, I’d like to see this whole DX tandem put to rest sooner rather than later. How to go about doing that, you ask?

In the past, DX has been split up by two methods, and two methods only. One, an injury. First, it was Shawn’s back, and then it was Triple H’s quadricep. Two, a Triple H heel turn, and only a Triple H heel turn. No one turns on Triple H, he turns on them. This time around, I’d like to see something different. Let’s turn the scenario on its head, and make good ol’ HBK the villain. Why not?

I’d go so far as to make the claim that the seeds were planted this past Monday night on Raw. With Shawn being forced to stay home to tend to a sick offspring, Triple H spent the entire episode making tongue in cheek jokes about Michaels, and they even went ahead and had Hornswoggle come in, and mock HBK. While turnabout is indeed fair play (who can forget the original incarnation of DX bringing out the little person dressed as the Hit Man?), this appeared to not sit well with Shawn, not to mention the internet wrestling community.

The next step would be to have Shawn appear next week on Raw, not at all pleased about what went down in his absence. The turn wouldn’t be immediate, and you can even have him appear to work things out between himself and Hunter. After all, in order to turn someone as worshipped as Shawn Michaels, you can’t have him just acting out all of a sudden. Come Bragging Rights (stupid name, average concept), have Team SmackDown shock DX’s Team Raw, leading to further turmoil between DX.

As Hunter and Shawn bicker about whose failure it was, Shawn should walk out on Raw yet again. In his absence, Triple H again goes too far in his ribbing of Shawn, and this will be the final straw. At Survivor Series, DX will once again captain a losing team of some kind, probably losing to a Legacy or JeriShow led team. At this event, Shawn will fully turn on Triple H, costing them the match, their partnership, and perhaps their friendship.

A Survivor Series turn may seem a bit soon, but I don’t want to see the two of them square off at WrestleMania. I think it’s better suited to boil until the Rumble, or thereabouts. Besides, we all know Mr. Helmsley can’t be at ‘Mania without feuding for the title. Anyway, I know this has little chance of happening in any universe be it the WWE or otherwise, but this is what happens when you’re cooped up at home due to rain for five straight days.
