* World Heavyweight Championship: As much as I’d love to see Punk make Taker tap out, I can’t bring myself to predict it happening. As announced on SmackDown, the ONLY way to win is by submission, which means Punk doesn’t even have a cheap DQ as an out. It is well documented that Taker has never tapped, and does WWE really believe in Punk that much to make him the first man to do so? Hasn’t seemed that way from where I sit. I think Punk has one way of winning, and that’s by knocking Taker out somehow. I would love to see a finish that recalls the Austin-Hart match at WM13. Have Taker pass out in the Vise, but refuse to tap. If he can’t continue, you have to declare Punk the victor, right? I think they’ll want to keep this rivalry going until Hell in a Cell next month, and the only way to really do that, in my opinion, is to have Punk win. So, even though my gut tells me different, I have to go with a retention. Punk wins.
* WWE Championship: Can you imagine a circumstance in which Cena says, “I Quit?” I certainly can’t, and I’m not even all that much of a mark. It’s simply the way he’s been booked. Unless Orton threatens to open fire on those in attendance, I can’t see what he’d do to make Cena forfeit. Besides, if Punk wins, you need another method of sending the fans home happy. Here it is. Cena wins.
* DX vs Legacy: As this is the first PPV in Montreal since the Screwjob, I think WWE will look to reference that fact if they can. This would be the match in which to do it, especially since Shawn’s involved. While the most logical ending I can see would be Legacy simultaneously tapping out in the middle of the ring to a Sharpshooter and Figure 4, why not have fun with it? Have Legacy put Shawn in a Sharpshooter, and have someone ring the bell to signal the end. Hopefully, enough people would understand what’s going on. Let’s have a little fun. Besides, I sense they will want this little feud to end up inside the Cell as well. You need a rubber match for that. Legacy wins.
* ECW: Aw, who cares? I am a big Christian fan, but ECW has been beyond horrible since he won the title. It’s a shame, really, and it’s not even his fault. There is simply no one interesting for him to feud with. Ryder, Benjamin, and Sheamus are still a little ways away, which left only Regal for the time being, and it’s been awful. SummerSlam was a joke, but you shouldn’t have that here as there are only six matches on the card, which means all of these matches need to go at least 15-20 if you don’t want to kill your audience with filler. It’s hard for me to envision Regal getting the title, so I can’t in good conscience pick him. Christian wins.
* Unified Tag: WWE has done a decent job of building up this match, but I still have a hard time buying the Henry/MVP team. They haven’t really done anything as a team yet, so how can I take them as a legit threat? The pairing is random, and I don’t really agree with it. Jericho and Show seem primed for a nice, long run, and that suits me just fine. JeriShow wins.
* Kane v Khali: Did I say each match needs to go 15-20 minutes? Let’s hope this doesn’t. I’d rather see DX-Legacy or even Christian-Regal go for an hour than see this get more than 10 minutes. I am disappointed they cut the IC title match to make room for this sure-to-be abomination. I have no interest in either wrestler, and could care less about the outcome. Kane won at SummerSlam, so I assume Khali gets revenge here. Whoopty-doo. Khali wins.
So, there you have it. I must say, I have severely low expectations for this show, so I am hoping to be pleasantly surprised. I won’t hold my breath, though.
