– As a further update to this weekend’s report, WWE Superstar Edge sustained a serious injury during a WWE house show on Friday night. It is believed at this point that Edge sustained a torn Achilles tendon. The match had to be stopped, and Edge apologized to fans as he was being taken out.
This type of injury is serious, and will require surgery to repair. World Wrestling Entertainment will be working a way to get the belts off of Edge & Chris Jericho & potentially onto Cody Rhodes & Ted Dibiase. Right now, WWE creative it going through footage of a match that was taped this past Wednesday where Edge faced the Great Khali. They are hoping they can find a spot which can explain Edge’s injury. This type of injury usually ends the careers of many pro athletes, but since wrestlers don’t really need to run like many athletes who play basketball, football or baseball, it will turn out ok for Edge for when he is ready to return.
It is estimated that Edge will be out of action until January 2010, although other reports are indicating he could be out longer, possibly until March of 2010 right in time for Wrestlemania 26.
