Hello everyone on WNA, this is James Rolls here and I thought I would try something new, a review of pay-per-view’s. I’ll try to do this for every pay-per-view, but if I don’t, it’s because I’m completely busy.
WWE The Bash – 6/28/09 LIVE from the ACRO Arena in Sacramento, California
Fireworks go off… How exciting… Blah Blah Blah… Sigh…
ECW Championship Scramble Match
WWE has brung back the scramble match, and it is off with Jack Swagger and Christian as the 2 men to start it out. Great chemistry between these 2, and it shows. Finlay enters next. If he’s heel, why does he still have the childish theme??? anyway, more back and forth with Swagger then Finlay getting the pinfalls to become interim champ.
Next out was the, at the time, former ECW Champion Tommy Dreamer, he got in to some fighting with the other 3 guys, and managed to get a pin. Dreamer was still fighting with everyone and then Mark henry came out for the actual scramble to be complete. Henry got a pin like 2 minutes after he got in the match. Dreamer managed to pin Henry somehow. As the clock was running out, Dreamer made another pin, even though he was already the champ!!! This was the worst scramble match in history. I gave this match a 2/5.
Mask vs. Title Match
Jericho and Mysterio are the best program going on right now in WWE, but not anymore… Anyway back to the match, Jericho pulled off the mask… but Rey had a second mask on!!! Wow… shocking… sigh… Rey Rey got momentum, hit the 619, springboard senton move, 1 2 3… ABC, 1 2 3, baby you and me girl!!! R.I.P. “King Of Pop” Michael Jackson. I gave this match a 5/5.
No DQ Match- Dolph Ziggler vs. The Great Khali
This wasn’t a throw-away match like I anticipated. This had a shocking ending “OMG WTF?!?” moment when pyro went off in the arena and Kane made his return to WWE by attacking The Great Khali with 6 chair shots. Ziggler capitalized on the situation and scored the vicorty. WWE is apparently re-newing the fued between Kane and The Great Khali… like it wasn’t as exciting the first time around. I gave this match a 3/5.
Unified Tag Team Championship Match
Teddy Long came out before it was supposed to start and announced that it will be a Triple Threat. Edge made his entrance and the fans started chanting “Christian”, but sadly and surprisingly, it was non-other than Chris Jericho. They had a tough time getting tagged in, haha. Edge blind tagged Cody Rhodes of Legacy, Carlito hit the backstabber and tried to pin Rhodes, but the ref wouldn’t count.
As Carlito was arguing with ref, Edge out of nowhere hit a spear, and covered Carlito to win the titles. This is good for the tag division, as both Jericho and Edge are veterans in the WWE and can really help the younger guys out. I gave this match a 4/5.
Womens Championship Match
Melina looked smokin’ hot, as usual. McCool was accompanied by Alicia Fox. The match was basically Beth vs. Melina from Royal Rumble in January, except McCool came out victorious and winning the title. The announcers kept reminding everyone that McCool is the first Diva to hold both the Divas and the Womens Titles. Sigh… I gave this match a 2/5.
World Heavyweight Championship Match
Punk has officially turned heel. Hardy got the great pop he always does. The match is under way and these two really work well together. Great back and forth between these 2 as well, Whisper in the Wind by Hardy is not enough. Twist of Fate is countered into a GTS, GTS is countered into a Twist of Fate, Twist of Fate into another GTS, GTS into another Twist of Fate… is the room spinning or is it just me??? Finally, the Twist of Fate connects on Punk, Swanton Bomb, 1 2 3!!! Hardy wins!!! Hardy wins!!! Hardy wins!!!
WAIT A MINUTE!!! The ref goes over to Justin Roberts and he announces that Punk had his foot under the bottom rope, so the match continues!!! Damn… Punk with kicks, Hardy hits Punk in the eye, and Punk knocks into the ref. The ref calls for the bell as Hardy is fuming. Hardy wins by DQ, but Punk retains the title. Darn that CM Punk, he got out of losing the belt again… After the match, Hardy attacks Punk while he’s trying to go to the back. I gave this match a 4/5.
John Cena vs. The Miz
Miz dominates the first 5 minutes… okay. Cena hits Five Knuckle Shuffle, Attitude Ajustment, and locks in the STF… okay. Miz tapes out like a little bitch in less than 3 seconds… haha. I expected a Big Show interference, but oh well. I gave this match a 2/5.
3 Stages Of Hell Match For The WWE Championship
The first fall is one on one, which means DQ’s and Countouts are legal. Okay, Trips and Orton brawl for a bit, Trips gets the advantage, grabs a chair from the outside, and hits Orton with it in 5 minutes. Orton wins the first fall.
The second match is Falls Count Anywhere, Trips uses the stip to his advantage by continuing to hit Orton with the chair. Trips brings Orton to his knees, hits the Pedigree and takes the second fall only about 2 minutes after the first one. Triple H wins the second fall.
The final match is a Stretcher match, the only way to win is to weaken your opponent so badly that they can’t get up while you drag their carcass acroos the finish line at the top of the ramp. They fight and fight and fight for about 7 minutes, Orton drops Trips on the stretcher and Trips is out cold?!? WTF?!? Is the foam to hard?!? Oh Jesus…
Orton continues to attack for a second, then he starts pushing the stretcher up the ramp. With 3 feet to go, Trips slides off the stretcher. The match is still on. More brawling between the 2, and Trips gets the advantage with a Pedigree on the steel stage.
As Trips starts pushing the stretcher towards the finish line, Cody Rhodes comes out and attacks Trips. Orotn slides off of the stretcher as Ted DiBiase comes from behind and attacks Trips.
Trips pulls out a sledgehammer out of basically nowhere and pummels both Rhodes and DiBiase with it, soon after Orton hits a punt to Trips and a piece of the stage. Orton and Legacy then drag Trips over the finish line to end the match. Orton retains thanks to his henchmen.
Trips gets up a short time after the match, I guess it wasn’t a full punt on the part of Orton… Trips gets his revenge on Orton in the end. Trips even throws in a DX chop before the event ends. I gave the main event a 4.5/5.
Overall this pay-per-view was not bad, it garnered a 3.5/5.
