Shawn’s “The Bash” Thoughts & Storyline Predictions

– “The Bash” is officially over! The following will have a list of the matches that aired last night, with my thoughts on the finishes. I’ll also speak on the story lines that could happen soon in the future.

ECW Scramble Match
The match itself was entertaining, and the finish was suprising to say the least. Most were suspecting that Dreamer would be dropping the title to Swagger. Glad to see that WWE didn’t drop the title, Dreamer definitely deserves to be champion for a bit.

Jericho vs. Mysterio
This was an awesome match, that was highly entertaining. The match itself was over 15 minutes, and both men gave it their all. I’m not entirely surprised by the finish, as I don’t know if WWE wants to revisit the WCW days of when Mysterio was unmasked.

Dolph Ziggler vs. Great Khali
Even though this was pretty much a “throwaway” match, it did accomplish two things. 1. Kane & The Great Khali will have a program. 2. It helped elevate Ziggler by getting the win over Khali.

Unified Tag Team Match
I was shocked to see that Edge & Jericho joined in on the tag team championship match. Most were probably hoping for Edge & Christian, but I hope this will jump start the tag team division that seemed to be killed during this year’s draft. I would of liked to of seen Rhodes & Dibiase win, but with what happened last night (you can read more below) it makes sense now.

Melina vs. Michelle McCool
Boring match, I’m not entirely 100% why WWE decided to put the title on McCool. She has hardly any charisma.

Jeff Hardy vs. CM Punk
Awesome match, by far probably the best of the night. The finish, while it made many fans angry, served it’s purpose (which you can read more in the story lines section below). I wasn’t surprised that WWE kept the belt on Punk seeing that it is still not known if Jeff Hardy will be re-signing with the company.

John Cena vs. The Miz
Even though that Cena won the match, this helped elevate him for sure. Look for this storyline to continue, which will help The Miz out. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a rematch at “Night of Champions” PPV

Randy Orton vs. Triple H
This is one of those “WTF?” matches. So, Triple H should know that the first fall is a straight match, so if you use any outside objects you’ll be DQ’d. First dumb move. The rest of the match was entirely too predictable. They need to just end this program.

The Story lines

CM Punk Turns Heel!
As I mentioned above, this was one of the best matches of the night, and the finish was perfect. With Punk grabbing his eye and then attacking the ref it gave Punk a HUGE amount of heel heat. Punk has been a “good guy” for a long time, and with him as a heel, it can help him grow even more performer.

Kane Returns!
We officially seen the return of Kane last night at “The Bash” as he attacked The Great Khali. I’ll be the first of many to say that they haven’t used him correctly for a long time. Hopefully with Kane’s time off, he was able to rehab some of his nagging injuries so we can maybe see some good story lines with him.

Cena vs. The Miz Round 2!
With the finish of the Cena vs. Miz match last night, I do expect that the storyline will continue. This will only help The Miz, which it is nice to see that WWE is working to elevate the other talent.

Ted Dibiase Turning Face?
We seen the beginnings of what very well could be a face turn from Ted Dibiase. Last night, after their tag team match, Dibiase blew a fuse and said that Orton didn’t care about Rhodes & Dibiase not winning the match, that he only cared about himself. There have been reports for a while that Dibiase would be turning face just in time for the DVD release of “The Marine 2″ which Dibiase is the main star.
