[Q1]A video package recapped the ECW title match on Backlash…In the ring, Christian was introduced and he made his way to the ring in street clothes. Josh Matthews and Matt Stryker welcomed us to ECW on Sci-Fi. Christian posed for the fans in the ring. He got a mic and cut a promo on winning the title. He said it was finally starting to sink in that he had won the ECW Championship. He said, “Before Jack Swagger comes out here and interrupts me, cause let’s face it, we all know he will…” He went on to say this was the greatest moment of his career. He called for Swagger to come out.
Tommy Dreamer’s music hit and he came out in a suit. The crowd chanted “ECW.” Dreamer said for the first time in three months, ECW had a champion that embodied what ECW was all about. Dreamer said he wasn’t out there just to congratulate him. He said he had made a promise to be ECW champion before his contract expired and he only had six weeks left. He said he was in the building that made him love the business to challenge Christian to a title match. Christain said he would do one better and do it tonight in the Mecca of professional wrestling, Madison Square Garden.
Swagger’s music hit and he came out in a sport coat ensemble. He lisped his way through calling Christian a cheater and said it wasn’t fair that he was champion. He said he was going to get his belt back at Judgment Day when he gets his rematch. Tiffany’s music hit and she came out to the stage. She welcomed everyone to ECW and said that Swagger didn’t have the power to stop a title match, only she did. She said tonight there would be an ECW Championship match. Her music hit and Swagger looked pissed and argued with her…Natalya was shown backstage fixing Tyson Kidd’s four pieces of hair. His match is next…[C]
Shore’s Slant: That was kind of all over the place. A few notes though: Christian said winning the WWE third tier championship was the greatest moment of his career? Take that TNA! Is dreamer really going to retire? Really? Swagger will never be taken seriously by the masses with that lisp. Something has to be done. I don’t know what, nor am I making fun of him. I’m just stating my opinion.
[Q2]Back from commercial, Tyson Kidd made his ring entrance. A video recapped his match against Finlay and Hornswoggle last week on Superstars. Finlay was out next.
1.Tyson Kidd w/Natalya defeated Finlay at 10:35. Collar and elbow tie up and Finlay pushed Kidd back to the corner and broke clean. Post match, Kidd and Natalya celebrated on the ramp as a video replayed the hot spots and ending…[C]
Shore’s Slant: Wow, ten minutes for Kidd. Very nice. Except he looks like he scraped by. He doesn’t look worthy of the win. Bring on Bourne and let these two go at it. Hopefully Powell’s girlfriend will need him to do something that night too and I’ll get to cover. That match should be great!
[Q3]Back from commercial, and what the hell? Vladimir Kozlov came out in a Russian soldier uniform. He cut a promo. I think. All I caught was, “There is no one in ECW or WWE or the world who can defeat me.” And, “It’s just a matter of time before I achieve global damnation.” I think it was supposed to be domination. His music played and he left…
Backstage, Hurricane Helms was in a suit and interviewed Evan Bourne…
Shore’s Slant: You read that right.
Bourne said the draft brought ECW some new faces and he now had championship aspirations. Paul Burchill and Katie Lea walked up and interrupted. Burchill said he had just left Tiffany’s office and he and Bourne were going to have a rematch on Superstars. He said Bourne’s victory last week was luck and stormed off. Helms threw up his hands and said, “What’s up wid dat?”…Dreamer made his ring entrance; his match is next…[C]
Shore’s Slant: Evan Bourne on Superstars. Good week for me so far.
Back from commercial, Christian made his ring entrance. Old school intros for the title match…

Swagger kicked Christian a few times and then hit a belly to belly on Dreamer. He picked Dreamer up and tossed him into Christian who was still tied to the Tree of Woe. He untied Christian and hit his gut-wrench powerbomb on him. Swagger’s music hit and he celebrated in the ring to end the show…[C]
Shore’s Slant: Well, that can only mean one thing, Triple Threat Match for the ECW Championship at Judgment Day. The match was fine. Dreamer gave all he could to be 40 lbs overweight and 40 years over age. I hated the run in, but I understand it. Two long matches tonight plus some really weird promos with Helms and Stalin…uh…Kozlov. Watch out for World Damnation. Thanks for reading. See you Thursday on Superstars!
